Supervise production employees in producing quality products, conforming to customer demands, specifications and delivery schedules safely. Coordinate production processes with outside vendors and internal departments to improve methods, to reduce costs and to develop printing technology. Facilitate employee training and development and actively participate in the Sonoco Performance System (SPS).
Primary
Responsibilities:
Coach, direct and facilitate production department employees; focus on safety, quality and production while adhering to department policies and procedures while fostering positive employee relations
Ensure quality of products, consistent with customer specifications, color standards and print registration
Perform Root Cause Analysis and implement Corrective Actions/Preventative Actions
Monitor production Key Performance Indicators
Adhere to plant SWFL (Standard Work For Leaders)
Coordinate orders with finishing and scheduling
Crew presses/support departments and other equipment according to product demand
Track products through production notifying other departments of job status
Analyze and resolve printing problems
Appraise performance levels of production employees through knowledge and skill evaluations; establish standards as needed
Maintain annual employee evaluation system
Administer and document disciplinary procedures as required by the Progressive Disciplinary policy.
Coordinate orientation and training of new hires; utilize employee skills and develop abilities for advancement
Investigate all incidents; complete related forms
Coordinate departmental training; designate trainers
Escort customers, vendors and/or applicants on tours of printing facilities as needed
Work with customers on site to review, approve and to produce desired product
Serve on committees, action teams and task forces as appointed; facilitate teams as needed
Generate records and reports as required; maintain logs and files as needed
Approve hours worked through Kronos pay system
Distribute employee pay checks.
Perform other duties as directed

Bachelors degree in business, science or engineering required
